Funded programs built around the real barriers students face.

PreEminent Foundation raises and disburses donor funding exclusively for the programs delivered by PreEminent Academy — targeting the precise financial points of failure that interrupt education and keep qualified students from graduating.

What the Foundation funds at the Academy

Student learning

Education Support

Direct assistance with the costs that most frequently interrupt academic progression — tuition arrears, registration holds, and continuity of enrolment for students in PreEminent Academy programs.

Tuition arrears clearance
Registration and re-registration fees
Supplementary examination costs
Academic year continuity
Who qualifies: Students currently enrolled in or formally accepted into a PreEminent Academy education program.
Training and skills development

Vocational & Skills Training

Funding for students in PreEminent Academy's technical, vocational, and NQF-aligned skills programs where costs prevent enrolment or block progression toward a nationally recognised certification.

Trade and technical training provider fees
NQF-level certification costs
Practical assessment and SETA exam fees
Required tools and safety equipment (per program)
Who qualifies: Individuals enrolled in or formally accepted into a PreEminent Academy vocational or skills training program.
Study tools and resources

Learning Tools & Exam Fees

Support for the smaller but often critical costs that fall outside tuition — prescribed materials, software licenses, required tools, and examination fees that block the final steps to qualification.

Prescribed textbooks and course materials
Examination and certification fees
Required software or platform access
Laboratory and practical materials
Who qualifies: Students actively enrolled in a PreEminent Academy program where a specific cost directly blocks completion or continued participation.
Mentorship guidance

Mentorship & Readiness

Foundation-funded support for PreEminent Academy's mentorship track — addressing the non-financial completion barriers through guidance, accountability structures, workplace readiness preparation, and transition support for students approaching qualification.

Structured mentor matching via partner institutions
Workplace readiness and CV preparation workshops
Progress check-in and early warning support
Post-qualification placement guidance
Delivery: Delivered through PreEminent Academy's internal mentorship program. Students are enrolled via the Academy; Foundation funding covers the facilitation costs.

Eligibility criteria

To receive Foundation funding, applicants must be enrolled in or accepted by PreEminent Academy. Applications are assessed against the criteria below, applied consistently to ensure equitable access to available funding. Meeting the minimum criteria does not guarantee an allocation — applications are reviewed in order of completeness and need severity.

Demonstrated financial need

Applicants must demonstrate that the cost in question cannot be met through personal or family resources, existing bursaries, or NSFAS allocation. Supporting documentation is required.

Active enrolment at PreEminent Academy

The applicant must be currently enrolled in, or formally accepted for, a program at PreEminent Academy. A valid enrolment confirmation or acceptance letter from the Academy is required with the application.

Completion potential

Applications should demonstrate that the student has realistic capacity to complete the qualification if the financial barrier is removed. Academic records or prior achievement evidence is considered.

South African residence

Current program support is directed exclusively at individuals ordinarily resident in South Africa, enrolled at South African institutions.

Enrolled in an active Academy program

The application must relate to a program currently offered and actively running at PreEminent Academy. Foundation funding is not available for programs or institutions outside of the Academy.

Completed application

Incomplete applications are not reviewed. All required fields, documents, and the motivation statement must be submitted together. Applications may be resubmitted once with complete information.

How we track impact

Enrolment retention rate

The percentage of funded students who remain actively enrolled at their institution 90 days after disbursement. Target: 90%+.

Qualification completion

Students who complete their qualification or certification within the expected program duration following Foundation support. Tracked per cohort annually.

Disbursement accuracy

Proportion of allocated funds reaching PreEminent Academy directly on behalf of the student, without leakage or diversion. Reported in each annual governance report.

Application turnaround

Average time from complete application receipt to disbursement decision. We target 14 working days for standard applications with all documentation.

Program FAQs

Can I apply for more than one program area at once?

Yes. If your circumstances involve multiple cost types — for example, tuition arrears and exam fees — you may address all relevant needs in a single application. Clearly itemise each cost in your motivation statement.

Can I re-apply if I was unsuccessful?

Yes. If your application was declined due to incomplete documentation or insufficient detail, you may resubmit once with a complete application. If declined due to funding availability and you are still enrolled at the Academy, you may apply in the following application window.

Does the Foundation fund all programs offered by PreEminent Academy?

The Foundation aims to support all active program streams at the Academy. Funding availability per program is subject to donor allocations and reviewed each year. Contact the Academy directly to confirm which programs have active Foundation funding in the current period.

Can I apply if I already have a bursary or partial funding?

Yes. Students enrolled at PreEminent Academy with partial bursaries or other funding may apply for top-up support covering specific costs not addressed by their existing funding. Documentation confirming what is and isn't covered by the existing bursary must accompany the application.

How are funds disbursed?

All disbursements are made directly to the institution, training provider, or registered examination body. Funds are not paid to individual applicants.

Can PreEminent Academy refer students directly?

Yes. PreEminent Academy may submit batch referrals for enrolled students who meet the eligibility criteria. Contact management@preeminent.org.za to coordinate batch applications through the Academy.
